CHAMPION THE GLOBAL SCHOLARS DIPLOMA™
Educating students for leadership, citizenship and careers in a 21st century context necessitates preparing them to be globally competent. Global competence, sometimes called “global fluency,” means having the knowledge, skills and mindset to thrive in our global society.
The Network’s founding member districts determined that the best way to bring global competence to students was through a learning pathway, or credential, that would facilitate and validate a student’s mastery of global competence. The Global Scholars Diploma™is designed to achieve this vision.
The Columbus Council on World Affairs (CCWA) champions The Global Scholars Diploma™(GSD) program through innovative approaches, community partnerships, and collaborating business leaders.
Columbus North International High School (a Columbus City School) and Granville High School pioneered this credential during the 2013-2014 school year. Both schools report that student and parent demand to enroll in the next cohort of GSD has skyrocketed; both schools will double the number of students attending in the 2014-2015 school year.
